Citroën Traction Ragtop Transformation
Our client contacted us for a very interesting project, transforming a Citroën Traction into a ragtop type AEAT. It is with great enthusiasm that we accepted this project.
The base is a Citroën Traction 11B, the body of which we have completely sandblasted, except the part of the roof which we are going to cut that goes without saying. We proceed to the complete sanding in order to be able to highlight all the corroded areas and thus be able to repair all of them or completely rebuild the part. The goal is to leave on a healthy car and benefit from quality restoration work.
After the sandblasting we attacked the sheet metal part with the repair of the two sills with new parts and remanufacturing of the lower front left leg.
Then we made the body reinforcements necessary for the smooth running of the transformation. Indeed their installation avoids body twists when cutting the roof, because this loses rigidity to the structure of the car.
Once the reinforcements were installed, the roof was cut out and the stile closing plates were manufactured.
This is followed by the installation of the hoop fixings on the body as well as the manufacture of the convertible top hoop itself.
Finally, the locking systems and convertible top handles were manufactured and then chrome-plated.
Once the transformation had been carried out, we began to prepare the body and the elements for painting.
This part began with the application of an anti-corrosion treatment with a spray gun, the priming and the installation of the gaskets.
To make sure we got the best possible paint finish, we continued with a long hand sanding job to smooth out even the smallest irregularities. Once this step was completed, the body was ready to receive its burgundy and black tint with a refinished finish with anti-UV treatment.
The body left our workshop after painting, the customer taking care of the reassembly and the mechanical part. We therefore found the beautiful once reassembled and passed into the hands of the upholsterer.
